OUR TEAM
Contemporary architecture requires innovation and respect for traditional principles. Without compromise, it must combine style and function with environmental responsibility. It must create, enhance and conserve spaces that reflect your needs and aspirations: enduring and sustainable buildings that have clarity of purpose and instant appeal.
Acanthus Clews is a dynamic practice creating engaging, sophisticated and inspired architecture. We believe in collaboration and personal service, we are passionate about raising standards in new design, and we are committed to protecting the environment.
From initial concepts to complex project management, we specialise in the practical application of great ideas.
We want to hear from Project Architects, Technologists and Assistants who can help with our increasing and diverse range of projects. Please send CVs to [email protected].
OUR HISTORY
The practice was founded in 1972 by our Founding Partner Michael Clews in his rented cottage in King Sutton and by 1980 the team included Founding Partner Heather Clews and had grown to five with commissions principally on historic buildings. During the 1980's the practice moved to Great Bourton and the team continued to grow and diversify, developing a specialist knowledge of residential, healthcare and education architecture to compliment the heritage work.
Towards the end of the 1990's the growing practice converted the Old Swan, Great Bourton and moved in 2001 which remained the head office until the move to our current offices at Acanthus House in Banbury in 2005.
